Emurgo recently announced Cardano’s ADA integration with leading crypto security solutions provider, Ledger. This development allows Cardano’s ADA to become compatible with the Ledger Nano S, which means that users will now be able to protect their private keys by using Ledger wallets.
Ledger can also be integrated with Emurgo’s companion app for Cardano, the Yoroi wallet. By partnering with Ledger, Emurgo hopes to add value to ADA holders by supporting projects and organizations that adopt Cardano’s decentralized blockchain network. For Emurgo, integration with Ledger represents another strategic step in Cardano’s growth and development, particular with regards to its security features.
Cardano and Ledger
As the current leader of the hardware wallet industry, Ledger is the leading security provider for crypto investors. In fact, the Ledger Nano S recently received its CSPN certificate, making it the only hardware wallet available on the crypto market.
Unlike other cryptocurrency wallets (which are stored in smartphones and other devices), hardware wallets are not vulnerable to hacking attempts. Furthermore, they also allow users to have complete control over their own cryptos instead of relying on exchanges and other third parties.
Finally, Cardano’s integration with ledger will allow ADA investors to protect their assets through Ledger’s security services, and allow future Cardano and Emurgo projects to proceed with fewer security issues.
How to Put Your ADA On A Ledger Device
Integrating a Yoroi wallet with a Ledger Nano S is quite easy. The first step is to plug in your Ledger Nano S into your device.
You will also need to make sure that your Ledger Nano S software is up to date, as older versions may not be compatible with the Yoroi wallet. To make the upgrade, visit the ledger live manager and download the necessary updates.
Next, go to Yoroi-wallet.com and install the yoroi wallet app. If you already have a wallet, you will need to reinstall the app. However, you can also take the address from your old wallet and send it to the Ledger Nano S wallet.
When you’re ready, open your Ledger Hardware Wallet and install the Cardano app on the Ledger Nano S device. Once the wallet is up and running, you can establish a link between the Ledger Nano S and the Yoroi browser. You will then be asked to confirm the pairing, and once you have done that then you’re good to go. With the installation complete, you can now use your Ledger Nano S to protect your Yoroi wallet
